Guava

Guava is a tropical fruit grown primarily in India, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia and Mexico. Guava is shaped somewhat like a pear or an apple, with white, pink or red flesh depending upon the variety. The fruit is sweet with a slightly musky flavor. Guava has a strong odor until cooked. It can be eaten fresh but is more often dried and used to flavor beverages, ice cream, and other foods. Guava is very high in pectin, a soluble carbohydrate. It is the only fruit with pulp that can be made into jam or jelly without adding any additional pectin.
